Bright with excitement, fun and energy, the Anita Sue Kolman Gallery invites a thought provoking experience. We provide stimulating art in a warm and friendly setting. Introducing a host of new ideas, fresh work and creative people, we’re bold, passionate and spontaneous about art.

Focusing on exhibiting work created by Minnesota artists, we encourage our clients and gallery artists to interact. Artists are on hand to meet and greet visitors to the gallery. These meetings facilitate unique connections between artist and collector.

Art talks to all of us in very special ways, and we strive to present art that our clients will enjoy for many years to come.

We invite you to experience the difference.

Our Principals

Anita Anita Sue Kolman, Gallery Owner

I have been connecting art lovers with artists since 2001. For nine years, I worked as an Artist Representative without a dedicated space. I introduced artists and their art to potential buyers in artists' studios and art lovers' homes and businesses. I founded the Anita Sue Kolman Gallery in the Northrup King Building in November 2010, with the goal of even more effectively facilitating artistic connections.

My previous experiences with art include volunteering as a docent at the University of Minnesota's Weisman Art Museum and serving as a "Picture Person" explaining art to young children in my local school district. My immersion into the world of art wasn’t direct. Prior to starting my business as an Artist Representative, I was engaged in the world of sociology. I taught at the college level and then worked as a program evaluator for a local nonprofit foundation. Eventually I struck out on my own and ran a successful research consulting business. Although I enjoyed these professional experiences, my volunteer activities slowly convinced me that my passion was art. The power of art to inspire and excite all kinds of emotions and ideas deeply resonated with me. This realization really took hold one day when an artist friend of mine sensed my frustration and said, “Why don’t you help me sell my art?” At first, I thought this idea was crazy but I eventually agreed. That rewarding experience and many more like it over the past 10 years has now resulted in the Anita Sue Kolman Gallery.

Patrick Patrick Kemal Pryor, Curator/Consultant

I exhibit my artworks at the Anita Sue Kolman Gallery, and I am also the chief curator. As curator, I select artists’ work for scheduled exhibitions and organize group shows with the diverse works of our principal gallery artists.

For five years I had my own gallery/studio where I worked and exhibited my works and the works of others to the public. Through this experience, I cultivated a curatorial style informed by my interest in color, design principles, and in guiding and enhancing the visitor’s visual experience. In other words, I strive for a balance between the stark-white gallery cube and an inviting warm space that welcomes the viewer.

We’ll be offering exhibitions of Minnesota artists whose work exhibits a strong commitment to their practice.
